When hiking, if at any point you decide it is too strenuous or too steep, no worries, turn around wherever and whenever you want. Fast hikers have time to go to the second or third peak. Up there you'll run along a ridgeline. Unlike on the Flattop trail, up there you'll likely be alone.
No matter how fast or far you HIKE the great views provide a reward for every footstep. Even on cloudy or rainy days it's still a good time. You will get exercise in the mountains and see more of Anchorage and pay less than you would on a city tour.

 departs DBR. Van passes library in mid-town where it sometimes stops to pick up more (scheduled) hikers. Route: South on C St, L on 36th, R Seward Hwy, L O'Malley, R Hillside, L Upper Huffman, R Toilsome. |

Van arrives at Glen Alps in Chugach State Park. Elevation: 2,200 feet.

Van remains parked at trailhead. Driver does his own hike. Everyone meets back at van at or before 4pm.

 departs taking a different return route back to make a circuit tour of the city. Return route goes past scenic Bicentennial Park then through university. |

Van arrives @ DBR. Flattop t-shirts & ice cream for sale at our store. Free water refills. If after hiking you decide to rent a bike you'll save $2. HIKE/BIKE SPLIT. Merge the SPLIT with the EVENING SPECIAL (returning hikers can begin biking at 4:30 instead of 5:30) allows you to ride until 10 pm or overnight until 9 am for just $14 more dollars. Total SPLIT cost - $36.

The "Sidewalk Sign-Up Sign" shows first names of scheduled hikers. A bracket indicates a group. Happy faces are for hikers who have signed-up and checked-in. Late check-ins (without happy faces) risk losing their seats if we sell out. No deposit or credit card information taken to sign up. Pay when you check-in between noon and about 12:30. If your plans change, please promptly call to free up your seat for someone else.
