Check-in Window

Noon to 12:30.  12:15 is ideal.  If at 12:30 all hikers have checked-in we board and leave at 12:30.

Check-in at Downtown Bicycle Rental ("DBR") pay, sign hike release, and pick-up/read handout/directions "How to Hike Flattop."

To bide your time before we leave, we suggest you take the glass elevator across the street to the top of floor of the parking garage. There are great views from up there and you can see Flattop. Be back at bike rental no later than 12:30.

If we're still waiting for late arriving hikers check out free 1964 Earthquake exhibit inside the blue mall where our store is located.

12:30 - 12:35

Late Check-in/Wait List Trigger

and Departure

If at 12:30, someone who reserved a seat doesn't show up, they forfeit it to someone on our wait list (if we have one) or they miss out on going because we will leave.

Also, if less than seven people have signed up, those that are here can discuss and decide whether to split the difference to equal the $161 cost we need to run the shuttle. So, six people - $26, five - $32, If there are four or less people then we introduce the four hikers to one another and explain how if they split a cab they can go for the same price as what they would have paid us.

Departure

A low-key Anchorage city tour for only $22  departs DBR between 12:30 and 12:45.

If after hiking you decide to rent a bike you'll save $2. We call this the HIKE/BIKE SPLIT.

If you rented a bike prior to going on the hike, you receive a $2 discount on the shuttle price which would make it $21.  This is the BIKE/HIKE SPLIT.

No Deposit to Sign Up. See FAQ 2.

Shuttle Runs if 7 people Sign Up or if we get the equivalent in revenue of seven people. See FAQ 3.  During June, July, and August we almost always get at least seven people and we often sell out.  (See FAQ 7.)  In late April and early May and during late September we probably won't get seven people but there is still merit in signing up and showing up because we can introduce you to other people who also want to go and you can share the cost of a cab.  (And make new friends.)  See FAQ 9.

The "Sidewalk Sign-Up Sign" shows first names of scheduled hikers. A bracket indicates a group. Happy faces are for hikers who have signed-up and checked-in. Late check-ins (without happy faces) risk losing their seats if there is a wait list (or if we leave early). No deposit or credit card information taken to sign up. Pay when you check-in between noon and 12:15 but no later than 12:30. If your plans change, please promptly call so we don't turn away business and deny other people who want to go the chance to see Anchorage from our van and HIKE Flattop.

We Accept MC, Visa, Amex, Discover and cash. There is no sales tax in Anchorage.
